Description

Silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide brick (Si₃N₄-SiC brick) is made of high-purity silicon carbide (SiC) grains and fines as aggregate, with silicon nitride (Si₃N₄) formed in situ during nitriding firing to bond the SiC particles. The material combines the high thermal conductivity and wear resistance of SiC with the tough, strong nitride bond, making it one of the preferred materials for critical high-temperature applications.

Key Features

  • High thermal shock resistance: The low thermal expansion of the Si₃N₄ bond enables the brick to withstand rapid heating and cooling without cracking.
  • High strength and wear resistance: Excellent cold and hot strength with strong resistance to erosion and abrasion.
  • Excellent oxidation resistance: A dense silica protective layer forms on the surface in service, providing better oxidation resistance than ordinary SiC products.
  • High thermal conductivity: Efficient heat transfer and furnace heat dissipation.
  • Alkali resistance: Good resistance to alkali vapor and alkali salt attack.

Typical Applications

  • Blast furnace tuyeres, tuyere assembly bricks and iron-notch areas
  • Aluminum electrolysis cell sidewalls and bottoms
  • Kiln furniture for roller and tunnel kilns (shelves, saggars, posts)
  • Waste incinerators and gasifier hot zones
  • Non-ferrous smelting furnaces and carbon baking furnace linings

FAQs

What is the maximum service temperature of Si₃N₄-SiC brick?

Standard products serve long-term at 1400°C–1500°C, with special grades going higher; the actual limit depends on atmosphere and load.

Can you make special shapes or custom parts?

Yes. We have full forming, nitriding firing and finishing capability for special shapes, composite bricks and kiln furniture, with small-batch production available.

What is the difference between Si₃N₄-SiC brick and ordinary SiC brick?

Ordinary SiC brick is bonded with clay, oxides or resin and has weaker hot strength and oxidation resistance; the nitride bond significantly improves strength, thermal shock and oxidation resistance for longer, more reliable service.

What is the delivery lead time?

Standard sizes take 15–25 days; special shapes take 25–40 days depending on drawing complexity.
