The slide gate plate is the core refractory functional component installed in a slide gate system. Driven by hydraulic or mechanical mechanism, the plate slides back and forth to open, close and regulate molten steel flow from ladles and tundishes. At teeming start the cold plate meets molten steel suddenly, generating thermal stress; uneven sliding face or insufficient clamping pressure also causes stress concentration. Proper preheating and installation significantly reduce cracks.
