Description

Alumina bubble brick is a high-performance lightweight refractory made from fused alumina bubble (high-purity corundum hollow spheres, Al₂O₃ ≥ 99%) as aggregate, with high-purity alumina micropowder and binder as matrix, fired at high temperature. The hollow sphere structure gives the brick extremely low thermal conductivity and heat capacity while maintaining relatively high cold strength. With a service temperature of 1600–1800°C, it can serve both as an insulating layer and as a flame-contact working layer, making it an upgraded choice over ordinary lightweight bricks for high-temperature service.

Key Features

  • High service temperature: 1600–1800°C, capable of direct flame contact.
  • Low thermal conductivity: closed-cell hollow structure significantly reduces heat transfer, saving energy.
  • Low bulk density: reduces structural load, low heat storage and fast heating/cooling.
  • Relatively high cold strength: higher than ordinary lightweight bricks, resistant to gas scouring.
  • Low reheat linear change: dimensionally stable at high temperature.
  • Good chemical stability: resistant to acid/alkaline atmosphere fluctuation and erosion.

Typical Applications

  • Linings of high-temperature shuttle kilns and tunnel kilns.
  • Insulating linings of carbon baking furnaces and graphitization furnaces.
  • Working and insulating layers of ceramic kiln hot zones.
  • High-temperature test furnaces and EAF roofs.
  • Insulating linings of petrochemical cracking and gasifier equipment.

FAQs

What is the difference between alumina bubble brick and ordinary lightweight insulating brick?

Ordinary lightweight bricks (light high alumina, light mullite) generally serve at 1300–1500°C, suitable for insulating layers; alumina bubble brick uses high-purity fused corundum hollow spheres as aggregate, serving at 1600–1800°C with higher strength and direct flame contact — the upgraded choice for high-temperature conditions.

Why is it called "bubble" brick?

The aggregate is fused alumina bubble — hollow spheres with closed pores that greatly reduce thermal conductivity while maintaining strength. It is the core feature of high-temperature lightweight brick.

Can it contact flame directly?

Yes. With high refractoriness and good chemical stability, alumina bubble brick is widely used as a flame-contact working layer, and also as an insulating layer behind dense brick.

Can sizes be customized?

Yes. Henan Songrui New Refractory Materials Co., Ltd. supports standard, special-shaped and arched or holed bricks machined per drawing.
